Sandals Ocho Rios, Jamaica Elopement
Jamaica has to be one of my favorite countries in the entire world to visit. The people are such beautiful souls. I am not sure if it was divine intervention, but God knows I am not always the best travel planner. Jess is quite the opposite! She made every arrangement for us. Her impeccable planning of this entire trip made me realize, I need to be like her!
When we arrived in Jamaica we were greeted with smiling faces and warm personalities. You need something? No problem mon! We had a long ride from the airport to the resort. Our driver was absolutely AMAZING! He sang, he told jokes, he gave us the history of everything we saw. Ocho Rios is about a 2 hour ride from the airport. We don’t mind. I love Jamaica so much.
I brought a lot of dollar bills expecting to tip at the resort. NO MON! “We don’t take your money for being awesome mon, no tips please.” I was speechless! The resort does not take tips. This was awesome. We were treated like royalty and not because we were tipping, but because it was their job. Wow!
We came across Jess and Scott when we were trying to find food. It was at this point, Aary was going to have an unforgettable moment lol! Jess gave her a drink of her dirty banana drink. You see, the legal drinking age in Jamaica is 18! Aary described it as “it tasted like a banana milkshake until it didn’t.” I loved that explanation!
Thanks to the amazing bride and groom we were able to experience some lifetime firsts. I have never been on a sailboat of ANY kind. I learned to sail a little boat like in the cartoon Moana! You guys, I was legit sailing it in the ocean! I was on cloud 9!
Sandals resort was absolutely beautiful, it was paradise.
The resort offers more than one area to host a wedding ceremony. Jess and Scott picked the one on top of the mountain overlooking the ocean. I absolutely loved this view! Out of all of the places they could have chose, this was the one that best reflected the purpose of their trip. Isn’t it like something out of a movie? To run away and get married together?
Jess and Scott found this beautiful balcony to share a first look on before their butler took us all down to the ceremony site. When I was alone with Jess in her suite and she was getting ready, I could tell she was nervous, excited, happy, just a pure ball of emotions. I love those quiet moments.
I haven’t seen such an intimate, romantic wedding in my life. It was the two of them, and the two of us along with the officiant and 2 staff members. That’s it!
Jess and Scott said “I do” overlooking the turquoise water in the beautiful country of Jamaica. There were moments in the ceremony where I couldn’t hear them because the wind was blowing that warm summer breeze through the palm trees. The highlight of my entire time capturing this amazing occasion for these two beautiful people was when they asked me to sign their marriage license. It actually made me cry. I am a bawl baby, but still, this was amazing.
We went around taking stunning pictures of her and Scott on the Sandals property before they left us to have their private dinner on the floating dock at sunset. If I could describe the perfect idea for a wedding, it would be this.
When I look through my viewfinder at a bride, I try to think, what do their eyes say to me. When I looked at Jess, her eyes said “finally.”
