SWALLOW FALLS ADVENTURE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION
Adventure Couple in Swallow Falls State Park, MD.
Adventure Wedding Photographer, Kimberly Wright
We have had a really rainy summer in Central Pa this year. It seems like every time I had an engagement session scheduled, we had to reschedule due to the rain. Jade and Andrew were victims of the bad weather as well. We had to cancel our plans at least three times this year. However, I am so happy our plans never worked out. The weather forced me to think outside the box and take my photography in the direction that really speaks to me. Jade and I had been texting and throwing out ideas here and there. I took a step back from my thoughts, and really dialed in to who I am as a person. What do I love to do more than anything in the world? Adventure to new places. I don’t call it traveling because if you could see what happens during my excursions, you would happily agree that they are indeed an adventure. What I really wanted to do was actually take a couple who trusted me on a real hiking adventure. I pitched my idea to Jade, and she was hooked!
Andrew and Jade communicated with me abundantly on every little detail of the shoot. I told Jade my vision, she had to have a long red dress, and Andrew needed to be in a suit. I can not stress to you enough how IMPORTANT wardrobe choice is to your photographs. As you will see from the images we created below, this small detailed choice made all the difference in the world. These shots are truly some of the best I have ever had the pleasure to capture. I can’t thank Jade and Andrew enough for wholeheartedly trusting me.
Special thanks…
This adventure engagement session would not have been possible without my AMAZING Aary. I love you. Thank you for going full Tom Cruise, Mission Impossible 2 on the rocks! Aary said it best as we were hiking back to the car:
Kim – Aary, ok what I need you to do now is traverse through that crevice over there, take the modifier, hold it in your left hand, then dangle from that tree branch with one arm and swing back and forth as needed.
Aary – Got it!
LOL!!!!
Here I am preparing for our excursion!
This is Maryland’s tallest waterfall at 53 feet!
It was so windy, normally I would be hesitant about sharing an image where the hair is blowing wild, but I love this so much! It truly shows the environment we were in.
After I took this photograph, I screamed in joy, and I told them ok if we don’t get any more because of the rain, I will be happy because that shot was what I came here for. It was exactly what I envisioned.
Can we just go ahead and bow down to Jade who told Andrew “I got this,” and proceeded to scale the rock in her dress!? Thank you Aary, your stunt skills will come in handy some day lol!
It was pouring most of the time, and I loved this foggy shot in the forest.
Ok, you knew I had to post a B/W photograph!
You can truly see the enormity of this waterfall from this shot. I loved this place.
